End User License Agreement

This EULA applies whenever you install, deploy or operate the VoicEra software — either from the GitHub source or from a distribution shipped by COSS India. It is additional to the MIT License bundled with the source code; if there is any conflict, the MIT License governs the source code and this EULA governs the operating rules for using it in the real world.

Grant

Subject to your acceptance of this EULA and the MIT License, COSS India grants you a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive right to install, run, modify and redistribute VoicEra for lawful purposes, including for commercial and public-sector deployments.

Public-service responsibilities

  • If you deploy VoicEra to answer calls from citizens or beneficiaries, tell them clearly, in the language they are hearing, that they are speaking with an automated system and how to reach a human.
  • Provide an opt-out from the automated system for any grievance, safety or medical situation.
  • Log a minimum audit trail sufficient to review outcomes, and retain it in accordance with applicable law.

Data handling

  • You are the data controller for any personal data processed by your VoicEra deployment. VoicEra itself does not phone home or transmit call data to COSS India.
  • Comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and all other applicable privacy law in your jurisdiction.
  • Do not use VoicEra to build systems that profile individuals covertly, or that generate synthetic voices of real people without consent.

Attribution

If you publicly credit the technology that powers your deployment, a factual reference such as 'built on VoicEra, an open Digital Public Good by COSS India' is welcome. Do not use partner names or logos to imply endorsement without written permission.

Model outputs

You are responsible for the outputs your deployment produces. Test in your context, red-team for the languages and dialects you serve, and add domain-specific guardrails for regulated topics (health, legal, financial, safety).

No warranty · limitation of liability

The software is provided 'as is', without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, COSS India, contributors and partners are not liable for any damages arising from your deployment or use of VoicEra.

Termination

Your rights under this EULA continue for as long as you comply with it. If you materially breach these terms, you must stop distributing and operating the software until the breach is cured.
